Hello, I was just wondering about a sound coming from a BRAND NEWLY INSTALLED BY A TOYOTA TECH. timing belt on my 94 gt 5s-fe engine. I just had it replaced and it makes a whining sound when revved. Sounds a little like a whislte/whine like a supercharger would make. I asked the tech and he said it was normal since it was new. I was just wondering if maybe the belt was rubbing on timing cover, or if maybe is normal, when revved to about 3k plus, its VERY noticable. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks

No its not normal! Its a bearing...whether it be the alternator, a/c compressor, tensioner or water pump pulley bearing thats for you or the mechanic to figure out.

For me it was my a/c compressor clutch pulley bearing. Replaced it and its quiet as new smile.gif
