I am in the process of saving up for a 3sgte, but my car is automatic. I am going to switch it to a manual before i get the 3sgte...just because i hate driving an auto....but would it work to just try and buy a 3sge or another higher power transmission and put that on my 5sfe motor until I can get my 3sgte. I also want to upgrade my suspension and brakes and other stuff before i get that 3sgte power in my car.

sure you can do it, but why not wait till you do the swap? it will save you on labor costs to take the stock engine and tranny out and put all the new stuff in at one time.
taking the engine out now and swapping the tranny then having to take the engine out again is kind of a waste. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition
