I bought the midbass Kicker 8" for my door panels. Whoever said it needs modification is correct, if you dont then your door wont be able to go on correctly. So what I did is just cut the bracket to where it will flex around the kickers, wrapped it around the kicker put a screw in it and sealed the entire thing with sealant.
Sounds nice and works. |

QUOTE(rad1an7 @ Feb 9, 2007 - 7:58 AM) I bought the midbass Kicker 8" for my door panels. Whoever said it needs modification is correct, if you dont then your door wont be able to go on correctly. So what I did is just cut the bracket to where it will flex around the kickers, wrapped it around the kicker put a screw in it and sealed the entire thing with sealant. Sounds nice and works. Are you referring to the Kicker SSMB8 speakers? I was considering a pair to replace the stock speakers which have crumbled surrounds. At $99 online they sound like a pretty good deal. With the stock speakers costing $160 / each, it doesn't make sense to go stock. However, I'm concerned that the Kickers are 4 ohm rather than the stock 2 ohm. Do they sound all right, or do they sound excessively quiet, given they have double the resistance of the stock speakers? Either way, I'm sure they sound better than speakers with completely disintegrated surrounds!! Also, does anyone have recommendations for replacements for the 6.5" speakers in the rear? Thanks, Matt |
