So I was driving to the gym this afternoon when something strange happened. The check engine light flickered on a couple times and the engine cut off. I had my foot on the clutch at the time, so I just released the clutch and it started back up again. After the gym it started and drove fine. Now, on my way home tonight it did it again. It cut again, and I pulled over and tried to start it.... nothing. It cranks over, but wouldn't start. After a couple tries it finally started up and I got about a block down when it did it again. This time it was still running, but when I would give it some gas it felt as though I was doing 25MPH in 5th gear.
Then it shut off. For good. My first thought was the fuel pump, but when had a friend crank it over I could smell the gas. So I move onto spark. I pulled a plug wire and had my friend crank it again.... no spark. I checked my plug connections and everything was on correct. I didn't have the right tools to check the distributor, and it was pouring rain (Why do you always break down when its pitch black, cold, on a back road, and pouring rain?) So she was towed to my mechanic and he'll have a look-see tomorrow, but I would like to hear the thoughts of those who may have ideas as to what is causing this. Ugh... I'm going to bed. Oh no I guess the only thing you can do now is to probably find the ecu pinouts for the blacktop ecu and find out where the E1 and TE1 wires are. So this will involve retracing the wiring through the loom (hopefully that isn't the case). Try contacting Coomer and ask him if he somehow made a part within the wiring that could allow you to do the diagnostic first though.
