For now, I'm keeping my Celica as a daily driver and RX7 as performance. The ongoing question I get asked when driving my Celica though...."Is it fast?"...
How do you define fast? Will it beat a stock Civic...sure. Will beat any slightly modded Civic...yeah most likely. Well, then you ask...what about a turbo'd car...does it keep up? This is the question I have trouble answering and here is why. A few weeks ago, I lost 50 bucks to a kid in a 93 Talon TSI. I actually had him, i'm an auto his being a turbo manual, until he hit third and he beat me by three car lengths. I then race a 96 Talon TSI, with an automatic...and win by a bumper. I'm very confused on what to answer to this question, so....my question to this board is...what do you say when you're asked "Is that car fast?" Personally, I say that it's fast enough, but what do you guys say? Obviously, if you have boost...this question doesn't apply to you because your Celi is another category...but to those of you with N/A Celi's...what do you answer? Thanks for your help in this ongoing controversial question. -------------------- 95 Toyota Celica GT

I got a similar problem with my 300ZX TT Vrs the Stock Celica.
As far as speed goes:- the Z takes it out all over the Celica but I am very wary of the speeding tickets too. So I decided I would sell my Celica, then my younger brother smashed my mums car, so now mum drives my Celica and I drive my Z, and I won't let my younger brother near my two cars, (before and after the accident). But then for top speed:- an older guy at work was saying when he was young he was doing up cars and so on, but after the wife and kids came it was all over. Also no matter how fast the car was, he got use to the car and wanted another with more speed. So in conclusion "is the car fast" is not an option, it is whether it gets you from A to B, (without a speeding ticket). |
