I have been pondering doing this for some time, but have honestly got no idea were to start.

Im going to go turbo on my 7a this winter, and know that im going to be replacing the auto tranny later this up coming summer.. Oh btw I drive a 95 St Auto..... I have seen some members here doing the GT4 conversion.. And that got me thinking... if im going to be doing a tranny swap, and I want to get into drifting soon too.. (And im going to do a rear disk brake conversion soon too) I might as well try to knock it all in one fell swoop..

im not afraid of tackling a project of this size. And I know that if I prep myself correctly I should not have any trouble doing either..

My question is. Where would I find the drive train that would fit my car?? ive poked around google and such. but not found much at all.. Either im using the wrong search functions. Or just not finding what it is I want..

Any help or advice that you (the community) can provide would be much appreciated..

Well, this thread will most likely be locked.

But, the gt4 rear end is somewhat strong. But I have no idea how long it would last on strictly RWD.

So here is what you do.

Ford 8 rear end and chop it to size then weld back together. Will be strong and work out well. Then go put a W58 trans in with your floor hacked up and have a custom drive shaft made to spec. Move your steering rack, create an engine cradle and weld that in. Then figure out how to make the steering work properly without bump steer. Fab up your rear end with a LSD and new gas tank. You will need to run a fuel cell so that will need to be mounted as well. 6 point cage/roll bar would be a good thing as well to stiffen up the chassis from all the hacking.

Thats the list I have so far in basic terms. But then I realized hey, why not put this money into a 7 for the weekend car instead of hacking my DD.
