My girlfriend is 19, and working full-time to pay for her car. To get this car, she had to use her dad's credit and he cosigned. If she moves out, they will take her car, yet she has been the one making payments on her car, even working so much that she is getting very few college hours in.

How can my girlfriend move out and KEEP her car? I am not too clear but I think she has been giving her dad her paychecks and he has made the payments using her paychecks or something like that. So to the bank, it looks like he is the one paying.

If she moves out, they keep the car, yet her mom just demanded that she moves out or START PAYING RENT. Yeah, thats what I thought. Her parents are telling her that if she moves out, they will keep her car, and if she stays there, she has to start paying rent, ALONG with paying for her car, for THEIR groceries, and doing all the work around the house..

HELP PLEASE!

Thanks for all the advice so far guys.

As far as the car goes, I think that when it comes down to it, she will be able to at least cut the car as a loss and haul it out of there.

Secondly, her parents have NO right to make her pay rent. She is 19 and works full time to pay for a car? Most kids are 19 and working full time to pay for college if not going there solely.

On top of that, she does all the housework at her home. She gets screamed at if every single piece of clothing is not ironed and folded. She cooks, cleans, and is pretty much a slave to her mom's whims. Now I say her mom cause her dad isn't THAT bad, but when it comes down to it, he is whipped.

So when you say "19 and can afford it" please understand that she already is using ALL of her money for her car. And when you say it is "reasonable to expect her to do a share of work", realize she is not doing just her share, she is doing EVERYONE's share.

You guys would be disgusted by the way her parents treat her.

Ehh one time her mom was lying in bed and called my girlfriend on her cell phone to bring her a Dr. Pepper.

Sick.
