So I'm in the middle of my first fwd tranny job, and I am frustrated!!

Right side axel came out no problem after I loosened the two carrier bearing bolts. The driver's side is driving me freaking crazy, though! I see it is a reman, and have no idea how long it's been there. Is that side just stubborn, or is it possible somebody jammed the splines in wrong? The manual says to just pry it out, but is there something else that needs to be loosened/removed first? Main thing is, it looks like there's clearance to drop the tranny with it attached, and that's what I'm half way through doing. Is there any reason why I shouldn't, or anything I should know before I drop it?

The transmission won't drop! I have managed to seperate the bell housing from the motor by about an inch and just past the guide pins (so I know all of the bolts are out), but it will not lower. It appears to be stuck on the back side, and maybe on the rear mount (which was a serious PITA to get to). I have mostly detached the crossmember that runs from front to rear, directly under the block to free up the mount, but it's still being stubborn. Tonight I'm going to get my hands on an actual transmission jack instead of the floor and bottle jacks I've been using, but I'm not sure it's going to help much. Any tricks here or things I might have missed?

I love the way the manuals say things like "remove left axel" and "lower transmission from car". rolleyes.gif Things like that always make me underestimate the time I need to get a job done. biggrin.gif
