I just wanted to put it out there that I really hate SUV's and the gas that they suck up. Why would a person want to buy a car that gets like 10 mpg?
over in china they have a new car thats a cross between a van and a mini cooper and it gets 60mpg. They have laws about the dimensions and about minimum gas mileage. Why are we not following their lead? And the gov't wastes all their money and our money on technology to build a hybrid SUV which really does not exist as the electricity shuts off at about 40mph. So anyone who drives major roads uses up gas anyway. Unl;ess a family have like six children you don't need a big car. God forbid that children have to share the back of a sedan. Just getting those feelings off my chest. |

I think we texans can agree that the number of trucks and SUV down here are uslessly used. But i would have to say that they have a purpose. I owned a Ford F150 1990 and that i had a lot of fun with, i wish i still had it, it was the straight 6 engine, moster puller. great on the beach, not so great off roud because of the weight but still fun, and because ive been in bands since i was 13 it was handy for halling everything around. also it was the first vehical i bought myself so there was a little pride there but thats not the point. The point is that they should be used for fun, halling, and pulling, but daily drivers, not if you can help it.

QUOTE(Havok1997GT @ Dec 4, 2007 - 9:33 PM) I think we texans can agree that the number of trucks and SUV down here are uslessly used. I heard on NPR a few days ago that a study was done on the pollution in Texas, and if Texas was its own country, it would be the 4th largest polluter in the world because of all the big giant cars and the amount of industry down there. A lot of people who drive SUVs I think drive them because of the comfort factor - I was one of those people. I originally got my 4Runner because I was in a relationship for 7 years with someone who had 3 kids, so for a family of 5 it made sense compared to cramming the kids in the Civic. After that relationship ended, I kept the 4Runner another two years roughly, and came to realize that I just couldn't justify having it any more even though I LOVED that car! So I sold it to buy my Celica. I love my Celica, but I really miss my 4Runner. I'd've kept it if it got better mileage, and once hybrid SUVs get the mileage a hybrid SHOULD get, I would strongly consider getting one (as long as it's a Toyota!) -------------------- |
