Hey guys,
I am still working on this 2nd gen ST-185 3sgte swap, just need to hook up everything and replace a few parts. Anyways, I've seen a couple of distributor caps and spark plug wire options out there and I am trying to get some recommendations as to what I should use to replace mine's. I need to replace my distributor cap, spark plug wires, and there's this short connector plug wire that goes from the distributor cap to the ignitor that I need. The one I have for some reason does not fit.....I think my last mechanic tried to use an MR2 connector plug wire, one end would fit just fine on the ignitor, but the other end won't fit on the distributor cap that I have.

My question is, will an MR2 ignition kit like this work??

IGNITION KIT ON EBAY

If not, then can I order the OEM parts from an Autozone or Advance autoparts? I know I can get it from Toyota, but they always try to charge way too much for everything and they never have the stuff I need in stock.

If you know of any good options, advice, or any kind of recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!!

at least its all OEM parts.
if you know that COIL wire ( the wire goes from the cap to the coil, not the ignitor) wont work, why bother.
go to partznet.com get the the prices from there, and ask your local toyota parts guy to price match.
most of them will, if you ask nicely.

Ah, coil wire is the name of that thing, haha. It's not that it won't work, it just wont fit on the current distributor cap. But if the distributor cap from the MR2 kit will fit on my 3sgte, then the coil wire will work.

There are two things to worry about when getting 2nd/3rd gen 3s-gte ignition wires... If it is early or late ('90-'92 have large distributor cap ends, later have small distributor ends) and if it is MR2 vs. Celica.

I had to re-use the coil wire that came with my motor because the 3rd gen ignition wires I got from Champion Toyota were MR2 wires and didn't have two right angle ends on the coil wire.
