Nova Scotia legislature has just yestersday passed a law that bans smoking in vehicles when there are persons under the age of 18 present. Please comment as we are having quite a virulent debate over this at work (Radio-Canada / CBC). Here is a link (not very complete) to the new amendment to the Motor Vehicle Act in Nova Scotia:

QUOTE(axelrduvirage @ Dec 14, 2007 - 11:43 AM) Nova Scotia legislature has just yestersday passed a law that bans smoking in vehicles when there are persons under the age of 18 present. Please comment as we are having quite a virulent debate over this at work (Radio-Canada / CBC). Here is a link (not very complete) to the new amendment to the Motor Vehicle Act in Nova Scotia: http://www.gov.ns.ca/legislature/legc/bill...t_read/b006.htm Its an enclosed space, so I can see the rationale. In the UK a law was recently passed banning smoking in all public enclosed spaces and workplaces including all company vehicles and bus shelters. It is still legal to smoke in ones own home and private cars but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't pass a law within a few years, making it illegal to spoke in private enclosed spaces when there are minors around.
