hey everyone,

i just bought my celica with 66k 2 weeks ago and i love it. the only thing that annoys me is that the car has this ever so small shake. i cant tell for sure, but i would say my idle is between 700 and 800 which sounds about right. however, when i raise the rpms closer to 1000 the car runs sooo smooth i cant even tell its on. my questions are:

1 what should the idle be on the celica?

2 is there a way to adjust the idle? i.e. a TB screw? or cable tensioner? something like that?

3 do you think cleaning out the idle air control valve with TB cleaner is worth a shot? (tried it with last car and worked great)

the shake is nothing horrible but to be honest i love it when i know my engine is running perfectly. makes me feel warm and fuzy inside.

oh yea, i know these are pretty basic questions but im new to toyota, since i just switched from vw and i dont have a repair manual yet.

anyway, some advice and opinions would be awesome.

the spec for the idle is 750. so you're right in the range. you could try to clean the idle air control valve out. It's somewhat common on this car after high milage for them to get dirty and cause the car to have trouble starting, yours may be beginning to get dirty. or you could have a bad motor mount.
