There, I said it. It had to be said. Netflix today announced they are Blu-ray only - which is a nasty blow considering Warner announced early last month they were Blu-ray only also. Best Buy also stated recently they will suggest Blu-ray has their preferred HD choice. It's starting to snow ball and I think soon you'll see Paramount switch sides leaving Universal a hold out - and that won't last long. Blockbuster also rents Blu-ray exclusively also - so consumers will have tough times renting HD-DVDs.
Besides, Steven Spielberg supports blu-ray and that's already good enough for me. I will be getting my PS3 this weekend. This post has been edited by Supersprynt: Feb 19, 2008 - 1:26 PM -------------------- |

I seen blu-ray a mile away. Sony is pushing it. Back in the day, remember Betamax? Was actually better than VHS. The reason it went out of "style" was because Sony (money from other products), went and made deals with all the movie companys and such. I don't have a problem with it, though I see little improvement with all this "new" technology, when already dvds were being recorded in HD. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. Nothing wrong with standard dvd. Soon we are going to believe our quality looks so good, when it is really going to look like it was recorded on an expensive camcorder (which trust me, is not a good thing). Try watching Transformers on the best quality tv and in blu-ray that you can find. Tell me that the back lighting is all jacked up on the robots vs the rest of the "regular" stuff. Tell me you don't see large pores from the actresses you didn't notice before. Perhaps zits. That's my only argument on this Blu-ray. Anyways, I just had a feeling that is the direction it was going to go with my prior knowledge of the Betamax vs VHS (which was seriously a lower quality).
