Fast and the Furious......... Remake of an old popular film........ Okay, I have to admit, I did really enjoy the first one. The second one sucked big time (at least to me) and what is up with the dialog? Who the hell writes the script? How many men in their 30's actually say "Bra" that much? No seriously, that is why it is hard to love the film, that stupid dialog. Not very realistic. Honestly another thing that upsets me is this (Hollywood's Fault).
I am learning about diversity of film in my film studies class. Right now, we are covering asian americans and how asians are looked at from hollywood. There was also a documentary with a survey of asian women, asking why the majority of them prefer white guys over all other races. What they said was that they didn't want small asian men, but the big hero white guy (because that is what they see in the movies... Thanks Hollywood). So with that said, we are watching movies with Japanese Vechicles, where the asians get a very small role. Even Rj De Vera, who is a big name in import racing (or was) when the first Fast and the Furious came out, had a very very small role. Tokyo drift.... A country white dude shows up and beats the best Japanese drifter with an american vehicle. Pardon me, but if I were Japanese, I might find that very offensive. Much like one might have felt watching Last Samurai. I am sorry, but nobody would be taught the secrets of Samurai. Especially an American. Never! Anyways, I know you may say they are just movies, but that's what takes place. I would still watch the 4th one for the cars, but the acting isn't loved very much in these films. Nor the dialog or the style. -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204
