Hey guys,
So I came across yet another problem with the 3s right when i was just about ready to pull it out for the spring. Last night I checked my oil and it was a quart low and went to add some but when I pulled the oil cap off i saw some white milky stuff inside the hole and some on the oil cap itself. I stuck my finger inside and felt around and there was more milky film stuff on the inside but not much. I smelled it and it smelled like Gas. So that led us to our next step, we pulled the oil filter off and the oil inside the filter was really watery. It wasnt coolant it was gas because we emptied the oil from the filter into a bucket and there was a fluid floating on top of the oil and it appeared to be gas and it smelled like it to. We did a compression check because we thought maybe I had a blown ring because the gas was somehow getting into the oil or maybe coolant. 185psi across the board but the #3 cylinder read only 155psi. So we think its either a valve that needs to be adjusted because its not seated right, or its a blown ring. I hear that #3 goes in the 3sgte's if any are to go. Note that we checked the spark plugs and they appeared to be fine, they were dry they weren't wet. Here are some things we have replaced in the car recently. Head Gasket : when we pulled the head we noticed that cylinder #3 coolant passage towards the cylinder was blown causing coolant to leak into the cylinder. We also noticed that the previous owner had put stop leak in the coolant, because it had a drip of crustified stop leak material on the cylinder wall, and a finger nail would not scratch it off. But when we rotated the engine it cleared the crust off. Also piston #3 was chared completely black and it had small detonation pit marks. TPS with the TPS we didnt calibrate it right away. We did yesterday but the car had been started and driven only a short distance a few times within in the last month. We also had a hard time starting it for a while when we first finished the swap back in October. We think it may be the cold start injector. The car does have high rpm idle, but once its warmed it drops. Could the cold start injector possibly be stuck on, causing it to dump excess fuel into the cylinder, mixing the gas into the oil? Note Car runs, drives, and boosts and does not over heat. |

according to Aaron from ATS he said it's most likely it and 2 of em were wet. my buddy had the same problem on his car his oil was full of gas and he pinpointed it to a leaky or ring. it's weird how you think it shouldn't get by the rings but eghh.
