First check that the mounting bracket for the senders (attached to the caliper) are in tact and they have not twisted around. This requires taking off the wheels.
It is unlikely that the brackets are damaged because they are pretty rigid and not much can get there with enough force to bend them! But do it anyway! next, Check all relays and fuese in the fuse box by the ABS ECU. Next check the connection between the fuse box and the ABS ECU are good. Then check that the sender wires running through the arches are ok! Then run a resistance or volt meter accross the terminals in the sender loom! This is in your wheel arch, where the sender connects to the rest of the wire. Disconnect and check for a signal, by runing the rotors by hand, if you have no signal then the senders are bad and need replacing! Another test to seee if your ABS is working is drive in stratight line and brake hard! Get a second person to watch from the outside and see if the ABS is working! SLvr celica - sounds like your senders are probably on their way out, as the wires could literally be hanging on by a thread! Just replace them, I don't think they cost much! Hope that helps! -------------------- |
