QUOTE(celicaboy92 @ Mar 11, 2008 - 9:14 PM) I bought my Celica St as a automatic i have the fund to convert it to manual but i have read many articles of boosting automatics and not loosing any performance at all any input to help me make my decision would be great Can you drive stick? Do you enjoy driving stick? I personally find no joy in standing on the gas in an auto... I find the thrill in hammering the gas quickshifting then hammering the gas again. I know the ST auto tranny shifts really slow and too low of an rpm for you to get the full potential from the turbo. You do however get the benefit of not letting off the gas and closing the throttle body so you dont lose boost between shifts. Its all about what you want. I think manual is the way to go... but thats just me. If you like auto and you just want it for the enjoyment of driving it then turbo the beast and have a good time. But if you are going for the race aspect and you can quickshift... you will have a better track time with a manual. The auto does not stay in the gear long enough to get your full potential out of the turbo through each gear and it is kinda slow in its shifting. But if you are going to switch it to manual and try to hammer through the gears and miss your gear trying to quickshift, then you arent much better off. What is your favorite thing to drive manual or auto??? - Matt This post has been edited by politicsareevil: Mar 11, 2008 - 11:28 PM |
