I like him.
I have to admit that i don't know a lot about him but he seems like a decent man, quite eloquent. Do you guys think he has enough experience to be president? -------------------- |

I agree that he's quite eloquent - and more engaging than Hillary as a speaker. (I think she's really boring to listen to!) As far as experience, he actually has the same amount of experience as a senator as Hillary. I'm not so certain that being the spouse of a president qualifies a person to become president; so with that, I think they're about equal. As for Obama to McCain, well, McCain is a dinosaur, which in itself in my opinion negates his experience. I appreciate his experience, both politically and his life experience, but frankly I think that 200+ years of having stuffy old white men running this country is just getting tired and not working out so well! I couldn't be happier that Obama got the nomination. We DESPERATELY need fresh blood in the White House. I think Hillary is just another political clone/milk-toast Democrat who talks a big talk but I'm not so sure she'll actually put up. -------------------- ![]() |

We DESPERATELY need fresh blood in the White House. Epic Success. Best Quote I've heard all week. 2 woots for that! ![]() ![]() Does anyone actually realize that George Bush is NOT up for re-election???? People always say stuff like this. But the truth of the matter is ANYONE voted into office will not be George Bush. As far as all the people saying "YAY finally the country is making a change and voting for a black guy" that could not be more stupid of a comment. Skin color shouldnt matter. I'm all for voting in a black guy, too bad Colon Powell isnt running for office. What qualifies Obama to be president? Honestly, he has the least experience of all the Senators in the entire Senate. He also has the reputation of being the most liberal Senator farther left than Ted Kennedy... Many people may read this and think I blindly support John McCain. To be honest, I dont like the guy. I am not a republican, I am a Libertarian.... Obama I will admit, has to be one of the greatest speakers of our recent history. But the fact of the matter is you take the telepromter away and he stumbles over his own words because he cant put a sentance together on the spot. He is an idiot and an extremist. He goes along with whatever the public wants him to say. He is extremely maliable when it comes to public opinion. He is a weak person when it comes to holding onto his "values" Take his pastor and "father figure" Jeremiah Wright.... He says that he has been following him for 20 years blah blah blah...... when the fiasco came down about his pastor saying such negative things he said I will not disown him for what he said he is my friend of many years blah blah blah... Well when the public opinion started to sway and started to not like Jeremiah Wright for the things he said Obama comes back out and disowns his "pastor, spiritual leader, and father figure" of 20 years..... wow talk about thrown under the bus to save your public image. This is not history being made by nominating a BLACK man, this is a mistake being made by nominating the WRONG man. Sadly there is no good candidate up for election this term... I hope for the sake of the country Obama loses.... but at the same time I kind of hope that he wins so every one can see how they voted for someone who is not qualified for the job for the sake of "making history" I understand that black people want to see a black guy go so far and lead the country to greatness. But why does it have to be this guy.... I just dont understand why people think he is so extremely qualified for the job. If someone can give me 1 good reason why he is well prepared for this job I will shut up.... but I cant stand by and hear the BS of "history being made" it shouldnt matter that he is black..... yet people keep making that an issue.... Since when did just being black qualify you for anything other than being able to get minority scholarships... Please explain to me why being a BLACK man also makes you the RIGHT man for the job... - Matt |

But the truth of the matter is ANYONE voted into office will not be George Bush. Sorry, the majority of my life has been spent living in the shadow of the Reagan/Bush era, so from my perspective, Dub is just a sequel to that. My point being that I would hate to see this whole catastrophe dragged out any further. Will McCain be a sequel to Dub? Honestly, I doubt it, but I read conflicting stories on that. My interest lies in seeing this country take a turn for the better, not continue down the path we've been on for the majority of the last twenty five years. QUOTE Skin color shouldnt matter. I'm all for voting in a black guy, too bad Colon Powell isnt running for office. I couldn't agree more with this statement. I desperately hoped that Powell would run for president, but the Bush administration made sure that could never happen when they used him as a scapegoat with the whole WMD crap. I think he'd make an outstanding president, and I'd vote for him regardless of whatever party he ran under. QUOTE What qualifies Obama to be president? Please explain to me why being a BLACK man also makes you the RIGHT man for the job... - Matt I don't think anyone is saying that he's qualified because he's a black man. If that were the case, Jesse Jackson would've been president long ago. Hell, maybe Al Sharpton too. (god forbid on both!) I disagree that Obama is a mistake... but it's so early, who knows. The same can be said for McCain, too, don't you think? I thought early on that John Kerry would make a good president. Then he folded and ran off like a little bitch. Boy was I wrong, and for as much as I hate Dubya, I can honestly say that I think Kerry would've done way the hell worse. So all in all, we're left with the following (to draw from something you said earlier): try to vote for the person you think is the least doodiest head of them all. Because IMO in the end, they'll all crumble when the teleprompter is off, they'll fold when backed into a corner by public opinion. That's why they have "advisors". Did you do forensic debate in hs or college? Your arguments are well thought out and articulated. You remind me of a debater. Parli FTW! ![]() -------------------- ![]() |
