Ok,
I'm about to purchase an alarm/keyless entry and would like to use remote start as well. If i ever park on a hill I tend to leave the car in gear so it won't roll. If I park on flat ground I just leave it in neutral and pull up the ebrake. What I am wondering is if our car has a "neutral safety switch". I have heard some cars have this and it basicaly wont allow the remote start to work unless the car is in neutral. I know that if I dindt use this some of my friends would probly be playing with my keys one day and start it while its in gear. If we dont have a neutral saftey switch I wont even use this function. I would love to be able to get my heater going in the mornings though during the winter. Does anyone recomend a certian model of alarm/remote start for manual cars. Also does anyone have a diagram for our car of how to hook it up? including what wires I need to tap into for keyless entry and ignition. I have installed an alarm before but it didnt have remote start and I dindt use the keyless entry b/c i had manul door locks and didnt want to install actuators. Any help would be appreciated. |

And you can always run your car into a cement wall like I did. Cormudgen, don't be discouraged by having to push in a button when you plan to remote start your car. It's really not too much to do, and every time you do it, you'll remember to put your car into neutral. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...
