hey, I was just wondering do you think if you serviced your car every 5000km (3000 miles) and everything was looked after perfectly but you drove your car hard everyday as in just revved to near redline but didn't do any clutch dropping or wheel spinning how long do you think the engine would last?
how often do you guys redline? have you guys had any problems from driving the car too hard too much? how many kms, miles have you got out of cars you've driven hard day in day out? I know the car wouldn't last as long as a car that was driven with less revving, it is common sence but would it still generally last a long time. mainly talking about celica engines but I mean in general, bit of a silly question just bored haha. |

This is a very tough one. No answer is right because abusing your engine will lead to problems old or new. I find that stock driven motors that hardly ever redline will last a lot longer but at the same time these motors that get an oil change at 7-8K miles don't live too long.
Using synthetic motor oil really helps out a lot even in an old engine. You can go to AutoZone and buy Synthetic oil specials there most of the times for under $25 with an oil filter. You don't have to buy RoyalPurple and an K&N oil filter for that old motor. Its not gonna really help. |
