So I’m about to put a clutch in my bone stock 94 st (my first clutch install), and have a few questions.

First of all: From what I’ve read on the site I’ll probably go with an exedy oem, and just get my existing flywheel machined. Also, I have the Haynes manual for the car as well as the pdfs from celicatech to guide me.

Question 1: What else should be done while everything is taken apart? I know rear main, and axle seals, is there anything else?

Question 2: Are there any special tools that are necessary or will make the job easier/faster?

Question 3:
How high does the car need to be jacked up to have clearance to get the transmission out? I saw in the “auto to manual swap” how to it says 2.5ft for the rear and 3ft for the front, I have jack stands but they don’t even begin to approach that height, so I don’t know if this measurement is not made from the bottom of the stand to the top or if I just need taller jack stands… Basically I’m concerned with safety; it seems like the car will become less stable the higher it is, so I don’t want it any higher than it has to be… I’m pretty much looking for the best advice on how to do the job without the car falling on me and terminating my life force.

Thanks for any help.

This site is bad ass by the way.

if its been a while you could always bleed the system. but thats the only thing i can think of this early.

no special tools cept when i did my clutch i lucked out and found some hydraulic jack stands at checker (jack stands that you can pump up to get where you need then lock in place.) i used em throughout the whole car, jacked the front up, and placed one under the engine and one under the tranny. i didnt jack the back up just placed chocks behind the wheels with parking brake on. but be careful with the tranny, its pretty awkward and weighs like 30lbs. i got like a million pics from when i did mine if you want. lemme know
