Okay, so yesterday I drove my 94 celica GT (with the 2.2l 5sfe) to work and when I got done my car wouldnt start! When you turn the ignition you dont hear anything, no cranking or turning over....you get nothing. I tried jumping then swapping the battery (which was working fine) and i still got nothing. I checked all fuses and they were all good. So i figured that it was the starter so i went out and bought a new one today and threw it in...still nothing! It just sounds like the ignition system is just not working at all, it doesnt make any noise or anything when you turn the key...
Anybody know whats wrong with this thing? |

Try hot starting it by putting the key in accessory position and wiring the positive to the starter directly to the battery via a good switch. The key being in the right spot will tell the car to turn on the fuel pump etc. After that you're just basically hot wiring the starter to eliminate the ignition switch, starter relay etc from the equation. If the car turns over like that then you know the problem is with the stuff you eliminated.
Janky yes I know - but it will work [and you can get home that way too - embarressing but it beats getting a tow - just make sure to cut the power to the starter after the car kicks over so you don't ruin the starter or anything. Also be careful with that electricity - it'll get ya ] -------------------- ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them.
