ok so i installed a 1 farad power cap when i joined the ground up there was a small spark, now when i turn my head unit on, the amp power light comes on then goes off quickly and theres no sound into my sub
i bypass the power cap in case its that and it does the same ![]() is my amp fried or is it just protecting itself? none of the overload or phase warning leds come on just the green power light albeit for half a second it was working fine previously all the speakers that come from the head unit work fine, just the amp/sub not working now This post has been edited by hardcoreproducer: Jul 24, 2008 - 3:50 PM |

This why you are supposed to make all connections with the battery negative disabled [tho I never do either] and there is nothing against using more than one fuse in a system. As a matter of fact my newer Fosgate power splitters I just picked up for the multiple amps have indivdual fuses located just before the amp as well as the main one under the hood.
I've heard that inside is just a fusable link that can be replaced by soldering that should have protected the actual amp but IDK if that's true or not. At this point the amp is toast so I see no reason not to take it apart and find out. -------------------- ![]() ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them.
