Hey Guys, I'm not sure if this should be in the off-topic or in engine maintenance. I started this topic in engine cause it partly related to the 6 gen celica. I've been working on a 88 celica with a 3sge engine trying to gain some experience in swapping before i do my 95 celica.
The plan was to swap out the usdm block and internals for a jdm block and its internals because the usdm crankshaft was badly damaged. During this swap I've encountered a few differences, for example the pistons are different (jdm have wedge top as where usdm have a flat top). The one difference that I'm stuck on is the flywheel. The usdm flywheel (11-1/4") is smaller than jdm flywheel (12") and the hole for mounting are slightly off. The jdm flywheel is actually a 5sfe flywheel. I know that both celica uses The S53 tranny, so is there anyway to make a hybrid flywheel? or some sort of setup that would work. * usdm starter is in a difference place compared to the 5sfe starter I need the size of a usdm flywheel with the mounting holes of a 5sfe flywheel. If you guys have any tips or suggestions that would be awesome, THANKS! -------------------- |

use the flywheel for the specific crank. you dont want sizing issues. in alot of toyota cases the flywheels are a little different but the same clutch will fit and work. as for the pistons being flat or wedged, that to change the compression
