So i got my check late and i've been fixing up this Vert day by day until my turn signals get here.......
This car still had stock speakers which work fine but i figured it was time to upgrade them as they are 13 yrs old (i have 3 sets of stock speakers so if anybody needs them let me know) So i blew my check on these== stock tweeters work fine so i just got me some 8inch to replace the undersized 6.5's ....the best part it they DROP IN!!! without having to do anything the magnet is 35oz and depth is only 3.03in so no dremeling or cutting was needed as with most replacement 8in speakers, even the stock screws lined up!! i just put some of that sub-sealer foam tape and dropped them in..(yes my car was blurple before the paint job, but at least they took the time to paint jams/bay/everything visible) The kickers were pretty much a direct swap for the back and man i was really impressed with them, they dont have to move much (the woofer part) in order to produce some nice bass that i never got out of any sony's that i installed on my previous vert..... I can get you guys these 8inch drop ins if you need them, dont use them as subs though as they are built to be mid's and have a sealed basket structure. ok just got it done, had to sand down both sides of the bezel and the right side of the faceplate so it doesnt stick out as much when it rests against the right side holes where the bracket would usually bolt on to// only used the left braket and bent the tabs forward to it would sit a mm or so further back..
FYI the faceplate is removable, this made it easier to work with when sanding it down with the dremel...to do this you unclip the tabs from top to bottom, working it as an upside-down U, at this point the faceplate will swivel down and off... the headunit sounds GREAT....more of a full frequency range useing SSP "Feel" than that ancient Alpine unit that came with the car... Now for the pics And a pick of the kickers in the back panels maybe a alpine 4 channel amp thats like 50watts rms X4? i can get it for cchheeaapp how much is cheaaaap?? cuz i can get it cheap too:P |
