I found 6gc through a Google search as I was considering Celicas/MR2's as my next purchase, and I went to look at this one about a week ago. I put a good 2-3 hours in reading up on this cars history through supra12big's past threads as someone in here suggested so I felt pretty informed on all of the past problems & stages of the cars life.
I found that the body wasn't perfect but was in really good shape, just the spots from the bodykit that need a little touch up paint. The paint still has a great shine, and for a 14 year old car it looks great. The interior was complete and looks like a daily driver.. if anything it needs a detail but was in good shape. The dash is black, but there are a couple plastic pieces that have been painted white (prev. owner) and repainted black; you can tell they've been painted but they look ok. The engine starts/idles great, no hiccups. For anyone concerned it seems very solid to me. When out test driving it, the engine ran great. The trans has a strange second gear.. all the gears worked fine but I just had trouble getting used to shifting it. He offered to let me do a pull but I turned it down for this reason, so we switched seats and he did one for me from 2nd-5th at 12 psi (I think) and THIS CAR HAULS ASS. No joke. He did a quick stop after and the brakes work well. Only real downside to this deal is it needs tires/struts/alignment. I think the price reflects that though. Ron was a nice guy, he answered all of my questions and was very upfront about everything. I'd probably buy his car but I'm going back to Hondas and I'm pretty set on a certain GSR (whose owner I just found out is close friends with Ron, small world). |
