I need a new engine. There is a used 5SFE locally that the guy is also selling the automatic transmission with it. My family would probably prefer auto, I have a daughter learning to drive. Is it a big deal to switch from Manual to Auto? If I have the engine and Auto Transmission would there be a lot else to change? Would the ECU need to be changed along with wiring? Is there extra labor cost in swapping both the Engine/Tranny at the same time as compared to just doing the engine?

The one manual swap I've been involved directly in [been present and helped with a few more] we swapped the axles but I'm not 100% if that was just good PM or necessary. I wanna say it was necessary but don't quote me on that.
Look it up - I'm sure there's a sticky somewhere for it.

Manual to auto but the same rules apply reversed.

Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them.
