I was on my last 80 kms of gas when the fuel light turned off, at the time I thought it was just because I went up a little slope but it never went back on ever again, eventually I hit the end of the tank with the engine cutting out on half+ throttle before hitting a gas station.
I tried getting a new bulb for it, the fuel light bulb is hard to find, It's a 5mm wedge socket but the bulb is slightly fatter than a normal 5mm wedge and it's 3W not 1.5, Neither supercheap auto nor repco stock this part, luckily I found one in a Toyota Cynos at Pick-A-Part, I put it into my dash, still no fuel light. I check my fuses, the only one that seems to have any relevance is labeled "Gauge" so I replace that with a one from a new blade fuse mix pack, still no fuel light. What does this mean for me? It's been estimated to cost $300 just to get into the fuel tank if the signal sender needs to be replaced, Would it be worth upgrading my pump to a Walbro and adding a pressure regulator at the same time? Or is there anything else I should check? I stuck my multimeter prong into what seems to be the fuel light sender (either pin 6 or 7 of the long middle plug) and get no voltage. -------------------- Mike W

Thanks, yes my gauge works, I can't afford a full tank at the moment lol I just put in $10 a day that does me 40kms, well within the fuel light range. I was told both the gauge and the light have separate senders.
