I plan on swapping out my 1.8 engine for a 4th generation 3S-GE beams. I'm a little confused becuase i know there are two types of 4th generation 3s-ge beams engines. Tell me if im wrong but here goes what i have researched. The red top beams engine has 197 hp which was used on mr2, ss II, and ss-III. right? and the only difference between ss-II and ss-III is the super strut. Does red top come with 5 speed tranny. and then theres the black top that was only used on the altezza with 6spd tranny and is rwd correct. They selling a black top beam on ebay for $3,600, with 5 zigen exhaust headers and tranny and a whole bunch of other **** listed. But that wont fit on the celica cuase its meant for the altezza rw200 which is rwd right??

Another thing i plan on getting this swap like 3 years from now so its nothing urgent. but if i buy the red top beams along with tranny what else do i need for my car to run after i put the engine in?? new drivetrain, axles i have no clue.......???

that black top has been on ebay for awhile, and i keep wanting to buy it frown.gif

but no, for conventional answers, a blacktop is out of the question.

Red top will bolt in with a GT motor mount swap and you can use the tranny.
its basically the same as any 3sgte swap...use the search button...but not many/if anyone has done a red top swap.
