so a couple days ago i was going down this 23rd ave and e 7th street, if anyone knows where that is haha.. near the alameda bridge in oakland.
its a green light and im going straight, this guy makes a left turn and i brake (not even threshold breaking) just slammed on my brakes, but i couldnt avoid it, i hit his 03 impala on the rear passenger side door and possibly his rear wheel well. i know its not my fault, he shouldnt have made that left.. anyway, my p.s. fender is bent, my bumper is cracked almost all the way down and scuffed, my hood is dented in the front p.s. corner, and my p.s. headlights are smashed. what do i do guys... im afraid that the total damage and labor costs might total my car, but im not positive of that yet. does anyone know if AAA goes by blue book value when it comes to totaling a car? i heard that if the cost of repair is over 50% of the car u get totaled. all in all, it was a horrible experience. im not sure what to do at this point, i've contacted his insurance, and im waiting for them to call me back. does anyone know what i should do? thanks for the input guys! Doesn't look like that much damage to your car...nothing a new body kit, fenders, and hood won't fix up. Only thing you would need is a new ps lamp.
Umm...I know that I've collected >6K on insurance claims on my Celi and my Celi ain't worth nothing near $6K. But that was spread over 4 or 5 smaller claims...so I don't know what would happen since this all happened in one collision. My advice is to see how much your insurance will give you for your car, and if they decide to total it, offer to buy it back from them and repair it yourself. Insurance pays out $$$ 'cause they price everything at stock prices plus labor/paint cost is HUGE. Hell, a body kit, fender, hood, and lamp on ebay won't cost you more than....$1100 and they will sure as hell pay you more than that. Glad to hear you're alright, though...man they are some serious maniacs drivers out there. so a couple days ago i was going down this 23rd ave and e 7th street, if anyone knows where that is haha.. near the alameda bridge in oakland. its a green light and im going straight, this guy makes a left turn and i brake (not even threshold breaking) just slammed on my brakes, but i couldnt avoid it, i hit his 03 impala on the rear passenger side door and possibly his rear wheel well. i know its not my fault, he shouldnt have made that left.. anyway, my p.s. fender is bent, my bumper is cracked almost all the way down and scuffed, my hood is dented in the front p.s. corner, and my p.s. headlights are smashed. what do i do guys... im afraid that the total damage and labor costs might total my car, but im not positive of that yet. does anyone know if AAA goes by blue book value when it comes to totaling a car? i heard that if the cost of repair is over 50% of the car u get totaled. all in all, it was a horrible experience. im not sure what to do at this point, i've contacted his insurance, and im waiting for them to call me back. does anyone know what i should do? thanks for the input guys!
