I need a new engine. There is a used 5SFE locally that the guy is also selling the automatic transmission with it. My family would probably prefer auto, I have a daughter learning to drive. Is it a big deal to switch from Manual to Auto? If I have the engine and Auto Transmission would there be a lot else to change? Would the ECU need to be changed along with wiring? Is there extra labor cost in swapping both the Engine/Tranny at the same time as compared to just doing the engine?

I believe the axles are different. I'm looking into a swap (the other direction though) and it seems that i'll have to buy axles too... Where is Death? He knows... Yes the axles are different, however they are interchangable. Manual Trans axles are just built tougher. And if you find that is incorrect, usually you can get axles cheaply at self serve wrecking places. |
