I just got done doing my swap and of course a car can never be finished. so i was wondering if anyone who has or had a 4A, has any idea what type of aftermarket stuff to use. Mainly im wondering what kinda clutch and flywheel, cams, and other bolt on mods to go with. also i'm thinking about upgrading my suspension system soon, i was wondering if anyone could help with the right set up to go with for an ST?

I have a 4age 20v and in the end it really comes down to how much money you want to spend and how much hp you want to get...
the 4agze 16v is a turbo friendly motor and most people remove the supercharger and replace it with a turbo. The motors are CHEAP and the aftermarket support is pretty large. the 4age 20v is a high compression motor so its not turbo friendly. to get some serious power out of it you need to get some forged pistons and rods. the blacktop is the better then the silvertop. It has larger ports on the head, lighter rods and came with an options 6 speed transmission. There is quite a bit aftermarket for the 20v motors but it seems like you'd have to get most of it from japan as they are not too popular motors in north america. There sell aftermarket cams but you'd lose the VVT ability... but thats ok since VVT is designed more for fuel efficiency then performance. I'd recommend the 20v blacktop if you can afford to spend the money because ultimately it looks sick in the engine bay but its really more for bragging rights since the 4agze can push as much power as the 20v and can be done on a budget. but i don't know why people would want to swap a 4ag motor into a celica when you guys have WAY better options... i've been seriously contemplating putting in a 1UZ-FE into my celica in spring. Because it all comes down to displacement in the end.... |
