ok so i was going to my buddies house and the car died while in motion. pulled out the spark plug tester and i'm getting no spark. i'm curious how do you check if the timing belt snapped? also how would i know if it was my dizzy?

ok so my buddy and i cranked it out and replaced the belt. now it makes a rinding noise when i rev, did i over tighten the belt or is that normal? and when i was doing the timing the notch was slightly to the right of 0 is that retarded or advanced?

Retarded??? It sounds like it's advanced but I'm not certain. I'm so so happy that the celica engines are non inteference - I too broke my timing belt last year. I got it fixed with new water pump by mechanic for $600 aus. Bit expensive but oh well... |
