So I was driving home a little while ago, and just about hit another deer. That would have made number 3 to take out one of my Celicas... Good thing it changed it's mind. Deer fear me!!! They know that I mean business, and that I WILL hit them. But that's off topic. Anyway, nearly hitting this deer made me think about totalling out another Celica, which made me wonder about crash test ratings for the hundredth time. I've Googled it and can't find them anywhere. Does anybody on here know how the 6th Gen scored or where I could find out?

I may be incorrect on this, but I believe that the degree of intensity with which an airbag blows varies according to the degree of impact - the airbag sensors regulate this. So it's possible that the airbag didn't deploy with as much force/intensity in your coupe than in your hatch if perhaps you were going at a lower rate of speed, or possibly depending on where the point of impact was.
Also, I think you can disconnect the passenger airbag by unplugging the connector that's mounted to the underneath of the passenger seat. Disconnecting it will not throw any codes or make your airbag warning light come on, either. I can't say the same for the driver's side airbag, although I would never want to disconnect it anyway. -------------------- |
