12/21/2012, What do you guys think. Doomsday? Options

Many religions, calendars and prophecies point to Dec. 21, 2012 as the end of the world. Is this another "Theory of the Apocalypse" that will come and go like others we have seen, or is this one that we should be paying attention to?

As a nice jewish girl, I am here to tell you that a) we run on a different calendar than the traditional Christian (Gregorian) calendar, and that the year is 5769*. This means that I could have told you over 3,000 years ago that the world is NOT going to end in 2012.



*The year number on the Jewish calendar represents the number of years since creation, calculated by adding up the ages of people in the Bible back to the time of creation. However, this does not necessarily mean that the universe has existed for only 5700 years as we understand years. Many Orthodox Jews will readily acknowledge that the first six "days" of creation are not necessarily 24-hour days (indeed, a 24-hour day would be meaningless until the creation of the sun on the fourth "day").
