This came up at my job the other day. Who would win in a fight between Jason Bourne and James Bond. I was the only one that thought Bourne would kick Bonds as What are you thoughts ??

If there's a fourth movie, it'd be a complete trashing of the whole point of the Bourne identity crisis.
Ludlum's original design was believable and understandable; the reason the amnesiac didn't like who Jason Bourne seemed to be was because the amnesiac didn't know Jason Bourne was a cover identity; actually, Ludlum set the crisis up as sort of a three-phase design. Phase 1: dedicated family man and diplomat, David Webb Phase 2: trauma of seeing his family killed by unknown fighter plane pushes him to seek revenge, resulting in deadly commando, Delta Phase 3: Delta, lacking purpose with the war over, agrees to join a U.S. government operation -- Treadstone -- to pose as an up-and-coming assassin, using the name Jason Bourne (Bourne was actually a man Delta had executed during Vietnam) The books take place after the memory loss, which includes forgetting the emotional trauma of losing his family -- so you end up with the persona of David Webb trying to navigate in the made-up identity of Jason Bourne. The first book was great, the latter two not as good. I'm very wary of a fourth, which Universal has announced. The major issue I saw with the movies were just how dumbed-down they became, literally in the case of Marie. She went from a high-ranking economist within the Canadian government whose approval was sought by banks worldwide and who helped regulate world financial markets to a flower-child who didn't know how to duck. |
