wired mine up today and the drivers side opens and closes perfectly. My pass. side opens perfectly but on the close cyle it get stuck. i hear a clicking sound like its the plastic gear thats slipping. Unless i help it close, it will continue to click continuously. Took it appart but didnt know how to get into the gearbox...
any suggestions? maybe grease in a certain spot? was i screwed on my mirrors?? thanks for any help. |

Took it appart but didnt know how to get into the gearbox... any suggestions? maybe grease in a certain spot? was i screwed on my mirrors?? thanks for any help. it's doing that because the worm gear the drives the mirror to retract is no longer secure on the motor shaft. what's happening is as the worm gear spins, it forces itself outwards from the shaft. however the black cover that covers the motor is keeping it from falling off thus pushing the worm gear back. it's difficult to explain in words, you'll understand when you take your mirrors apart. i fixed mine (my other set of mirrors that i sold) using 1/4 of a drop of superglue so have some handy. 1. remove mirror glass carefully! don't crack it! 2. undo 3 screws holding the white mirror adjuster. remove mirror adjuster. 3. under 3 or 4 screws holding the metal frame base to the housing. remove housing. 4. remove black covers of the mirror motor mechanism (2 pieces) 5. this worm gear (blue arrow) is not secure to the shaft. if you pull on this it will slide. so basically you need to glue it back on the shaft securely but DO NOT get glue where the shaft goes in the motor so watch for that. remember all you need is 1/4 or less of a drop of superglue. the hole in the worm gear is tiny. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
