A buddy of mine who works for Honda told me that Honda makes their brake rotors out of scrap metal left over from when they make the rest of the car, so he recommends that those get replaced with better ones as he has worked on a few with the OEM rotors and they cracked. How true can that be? I've no idea, but it's just something random I was told.
Nice car though. I thought about getting one of those before the Celica mainly cuz that body style is one of the few that doesn't get stolen here in town and it's got Honda reliability. As for the 3049867340 parts for the Civic compared to 249 parts for the Celica, it's all generally the same parts with different brand names; some with slightly better quality than others, but when it boils down to it, most are mass produced in China. How else do they keep up with the demand from tastefully done/riced out Civics? It's up to people like us 6GCers who let our creative juices flow and experiment with stuff to get us stuff like custom 7A-FTE exhaust manifolds, 5S-FTEs, 5S-GTEs, 1MZ swaps, and so on. That's where our aftermarket support comes from. Just my $.02 edit #2: now that I think about it, it's probably about demand. Silly me.
