Safety depends on engine mileage, fuel quality, temperature, tuning, driving habits, and boost & fuel control.
If you have very high mileage and also look after your car like a baby engine wise, 6-8psi with a small intercooler would work. Advice, if you want to boost, I would recommend getting a compression test, a good tuning and then move on to turbo. Upgrade your Injectors and get a nice fuel and boost controller(s). If money allow, a nice intercooler to cool that charge down will help. you might also have to look at the fuel quality and also an ignition unit to have high revs where you might want to retard the timing a bit. Once these things are taken into consideration, including engine cooling with an extra vent or extra radiator fan from SPAL, all should be right up to 12psi(but not to live there). But to run at high boost, alot of consideration have to be lot @ the engine temperature, once the above it met. Try to keep the engine and the charge air cool as possible since the head or the pistons have not been built for boost. Also, I thing these engines do not carry piston oil coolers. So reduce heat here is critical for long engine life This post has been edited by west_minist: Nov 9, 2003 - 5:40 PM -------------------- West_Minist
