I found this while surfing the web. It is a 4.3MB PDF for those with slow connections it may take a while.
It was scanned in from some magazine, basically these guys run a pretty thorough test on 18 brands of fully synthetic and synthetic blends of motor oil. The results really surprised me!!!! It's supposedly a chemical reaction with the elastomers in the seals. To be honest our tests indicate it's not a quick process by any means but to me it's just not something I'd like to have a chance of happening in my engine. There are plenty of good performing lubricants out there without this problem - why risk it?
