my front right has been squeaking like the hell and i cant seem to find the problem.
took the brakes out and cleaned them with brake cleaner and applied that brake contact grease thing that's supposed to help ease squeal. that dont work...... looked and check the brake pad clips and bent them to they fit really snug on the brake caliper bracket. i lightly scuffed my rotor and pad to see if there is any type of glazing that could make a noise or what ever. scuffed both sides of the rotor i did scuff both fr left and fr right (problem spot) while the car was up. depressed the piston on both sides and blead the brake system while i was there and still the front right (pass side) still squeals. it squeaks especially when i apply the brakes at lets say 5%, and it squeaks when ever i turn to the left at about 3-15 degrees its getting really annoying, i dont have old brakes, just changed them recently, rotors were resurfaced at that time also. where is the noise coming from?!?!?!?! **could cheap brake shims that came with the new brake pads cause the squeaking??? -------------------- I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island

Ahhh i see now i only have 1 shim per pad on each rotor.
but why isnt the right making noise and only the left is??? i do have some shaking under braking but im ruling it as "bad alignment" I also replace my bearings on both sides. well anywho......i did stare at my shims and it looks like its moving around because the piston imprint is slightly larger than the actually piston ring itself. i did re-scuff my rotors tonight. the noise went away but came back after pressing the brakes lke 5 times. im going to go get a set of brake hardware kit from my local auto parts store and i'll install more shims and see if the noise goes away. when you say 4 shims per side, is it 2 each pad/4 total right or left, or 4 each pad/8 total per side???? IIRC i seen 4 shims when i bought my pads....so that means i used all what had 1 shim per pad mahalos guys for the input when i install more shims and "if" the noise goes away then i guess everyone can learn from this thread. sometimes they just need cleaning (Use a vacuum if you go that route, or you can poison yourself if you use something to blow it around or endanger someone else: Asbestos). If you have ABS and the squeal isn't that bad but just annoying, they tend to do that. Sometimes again, could always be brake dust. Depends how severe it is. Sorry, I just jumped in without knowing what is going on. I just had to offer some advice and calm down. my car isnt equipped with ABS -------------------- I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island
