The Bible has lots of violent and harsh things within it. Although just with religion period, no specifics, has been the foundation of story telling, inspiration, explanations, etc.... Well, I mean religion/mythology. Pretty much was the comic books of the past. As far as if they were real or not, I will not begin to debate this. Lots of people take reading and writing for granted. Discover when such things became common to all men of such proficiency, and date back these old stories.
