Since I'm a cheap SOB, I'd like to know if I'm getting the right stuff before I buy. I'm looking to go 720p for my PS3, connecting to the TV with an HDMI cable and to the 7.1 surround with a digital optical audio cable, if that's the right one. I'm going generic, and as far as I know there's no special version of an HDMI cable necessary?

And one of these for the surround part? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16882339059 Thanks people. |

^^ that's ghey~ ^^ My audio goes thru my HDMI and it sounds fantastic! I suppose the digital audio is a good option when you've got some ghey "switching" though. If you have true HDMI True-HD sound your receiver cost upwards of $500. If you don't have optical, and only HDMI pass through you're going to end up using component (red/yellow/white), except you won't be using the yellow which is video, you'll be using HDMI. On the PS3 you'll want to set the video to HDMI and the audio to component on the audio options. This post has been edited by Supersprynt: Dec 29, 2008 - 10:48 AM -------------------- |
