I downloaded Windows 7 on Friday and installed it on my 1.6Ghz Atom netbook with 2GB RAM, and I am impressed with the performance. It's running snappier than XP does, and so far, without problem.

Anyone else scoop up a license for the beta and take a look at it? I can't be the only one...

You can always alter that through regedit, that's what I did with Vista and XP (made it 5 seconds instead of 30).

No, it looks like a hooker put her acid vag on your hood. Acid vag = bigger problem than a few dings.

For faster shutdown:

Go to run and type in regedit.

From there, go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE", then "SYSTEM". From there, you will see ControlSet001, ControlSet003, and CurrentControlSet. On each one, click to expand them and click control. After this you will see options in the window, right click "WaitToKillServiceTimeout" and choose modify, change it to "5000". This changes the shutdown time to 5 seconds instead of 30.

For faster bootup:

Go to run and type in msconfig.

Go to the "BOOT" tab, and you will see a timeout window with "30" in there, change it to "3".

This works on both Vista and XP.
