Hi all just wondered if anyone had a similar problem. The ariel won't fully retract it stays out about 8" and I'm worried some braindead's going to snap it off

Many thanks in advance

The stock antennaes are the only lemon on our cars I've always said. Toyota retractable antennaes are the absolute sux. Better to spend your money on a nicer replacement or you'll be doing this again in a year or two

Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them.
Slow down Paul Walker.

I have had several used cars, all different brands, with same issue. I have replaced the masts and none ever broke again. Secret: they don't get cleaned. They are retracted when going through car wash or hand washing and people don't think to put them up and clean them. Dirt is what kills them.
