I have a '98 GT with 130,000 miles on it. It is properly tuned and runs great . I average about 30 miles per gallon. The engine runs smooth from idle all the way up to 5,000RPM's. At the point when it hits 5k rpm's, it wont rev any higher in any gear. It just flattens out at 5k. Other then that, it runs strong with no other issues. Can anyonr tell me what the problem is?

By nature of your FE engine, 5k is the plateau of your powerband... If you're having fueling issues (either lean or rich) then 5k would be about right for it to stutter... Do you know how to diagnose a lean/rich condition?

Do you know how to diagnose a lean/rich condition? Between my wife and I, we have 3 6GC's. My wifes '94 GT automatic revs to red line before shifting in all gears. My '94 GT manual will rev to and beyond red line before a shift with no problem. Our '98 is the only one with the problem. -------------------- |
