I have a '98 GT with 130,000 miles on it. It is properly tuned and runs great . I average about 30 miles per gallon. The engine runs smooth from idle all the way up to 5,000RPM's. At the point when it hits 5k rpm's, it wont rev any higher in any gear. It just flattens out at 5k. Other then that, it runs strong with no other issues. Can anyonr tell me what the problem is?

Why would you need to go over 4k? I don't ever go over 3.5 most of the time.

It's not necessarily the need to do it, if the engine is performing properly it should be able to rev to the red line. If it can't, that is indicative of a problem.
