I have been looking at these and wondering if I should go for it. They are backed with a year warranty and put out 160AMPS vs the standard Alternators that put out 70AMPS. I was thinking of getting it (if it seems like a good idea) and keeping mine as a back up just in case. What do you guys think? Has anyone bought one of these before?

Do a voltage drop test.

If you find that you have any drop, beef up your alternator wire (search for the post i made about it)

I used to have some pretty bad dimming problems. My voltage at idle would dip down to around 11v sometimes causing the lights to dim. I solved the problem by beefing up my alternator wire and rewiring my fuel pump onto its own circuit (you dont need to do the fp, if you are on a stock pump). Now the car idles at 14v in the daytime, and 13v at night with the heater going, HID headlights on, fog lights, etc...

Also, the problem with these super high output alternators is that they still produce the same amount of amps at idle, as the stock one does. They only get up to 160amps at high rpm, so It really wouldn't solve your issue. If anything, you should get an 80amp alt for an automatic gt.

Oh you could use a AT alt for at MT car? I had a feeling you could.
