Im not sure if this is in the right section. But since ive got my rims i want to get rid of the rust that i can now see on my brake discs. Wanted to make sure on how to do it. Is it as simple as taking some sandpaper and rubbing it until it comes off? If so how do i polish it back up too?

I'm guessing you are talking about the rotor, the rotor is the circle, and the thing clipped on to the side is the caliper where you put your brake pads in. but yeah just drive more, I find If I leave my car for a few days (rarely) there will be rust on the rotor, drive more and do some harder braking, should go away.
