Hey i jsut had some work done on my car by toyota (boo me, me and dad didnt feel like tackling it)
It had a large oil leak and they said it was at the oil pump. They also checked the timing belt to make sure it hadnt got oil on it. Drove my car home and everything is fine. Later that night i am driving and it had a strange whirring noise. Its coming from the timing belt side of the engine, and it increases when my rpms do. The engine runs great like before and drives like it always did. Just with a noticeable noise. we loosed the serpentine belts some and that didnt help... I was thinking maybe the power steering belt, i have checked it yet. I just hope its nothing to do with the timing belt that was a big job (for me and dad at least) so what could it be? what could i check? i had this same problem, and i thought it was the power steering.
so i raised the hood and tried to find what and where the noise was coming from. turns out it was the alternator bearings/brushes whining. i moved the throttle and the whining increased with the rpm's. (kinda like a supercharger lol) let me know if this helps... |
